Here’s some helpful information to get you started.
Boudoir photography is a photographic style featuring intimate, romantic, and sometimes erotic images of its subjects in a photographic studio, bedroom, or private dressing room environment, primarily intended for the private enjoyment of the subject and his or her romantic partners. It is distinct from glamour and art nude photography in that it is usually more suggestive rather than explicit in its approach to nudity and sexuality, features subjects who do not regularly model, and produces images that are not intended to be seen by a wide audience but rather to remain under the control of the subject.
We do not have a studio for boudoir sessions. However, we do suggest a comfortable setting like your home, a nice hotel, or even an Airbnb. We do not book any location for you, this has to be done by the client. If you’re comfortable with it, you can choose an outside location. There are outdoor venues that do allow this.
Please take the time to look in stores and or online for clothing you may be interested in as we do not provide them. This is something you’ll have to pick out and bring along yourself. If you need help choosing an outfit, we can definitely give you some suggestions, though. We do recommend at least 3 outfits and any props you’d like to use. Choose lingerie that is just the right size for you. You don’t want loose lingerie that gives your body no shape or hides your beautiful curves. On the other hand, lingerie that is too tight can be unflattering. If applicable consider the parts of you that your partner admires. Also, think about what parts of you are your favorite. Footwear matters, too. Keep it simple. Patterns, baubles, bells, whistles, and more than three inches of the heel can all lean “too much.” Instead, opt for shoes that scream “sexy sophistication.” FYI: Heels can also do a lady good when it comes to posture and accentuating muscles in her legs.
Always remember to shave or wax any exposed area that needs to look smooth and sexy. The ‘au naturel’ look is so ‘70s. Unless you’re going for that vibe, please remember this tip. Don’t tan several days before the sessions as well.
Partners are allowed. We do recommend that male partners are clean shaved. Just remember this is not porn.
A professional hair and makeup artist (MUA) is not provided by us but you are allowed one at your session location ahead of your start time. There are a lot of MUA’s in the area that do travel and will bring everything they need with them. Be sure to tell them what type of session it is.
You can bring a friend if you think it will help you relax. However, sometimes an extra set of eyes has the opposite effect, even if it is a friend. They are more than welcome to come, but if they make you uncomfortable, they may have to wait out in the lobby.
When you arrive at your session location, it’s perfectly normal to be nervous. for your boudoir session, so don’t worry. Most of our clients are nervous until the session has gone on for a few minutes. After it starts, you’ll begin to loosen up. If you’re still nervous, and if your 21 years or older, we do welcome you to bring wine or even perhaps listen to your favorite playlist. During your session, we will start with easy poses and move on to harder ones. This will also help with being nervous. We know all the tricks to create the most flattering angles for you, no matter what shape or size you are.
If you are presenting these photos to your partner, we recommend a photo album what’s called a Little Black Book. Other than that, we will only share photos if you have permitted us to and have approved the image(s) for sharing. We respect your wishes and won’t post or share any images if you’d prefer they stay private.
During the editing process, we will smooth skin and do some basic retouching on all of your portraits. We will also remove cuts, bruises, scars, acne, smooth freckles, etc., the best we can.
